Woman is looking at sunsetThe most popular definition of energy is “the ability to do work”. After all, that’s what most of us were taught in high school Science class. In fact, if you’ve never thought about energy as anything more than some intangible driving force, then you would be in good company.

The truth, however, is that energy is far more than just something that powers your engine or gives you the strength to get through your 9 to 5. Energy permeates every facet of your being. it’s the reason you get “bad vibes” around those who may not have the best of intentions or gravitate toward like-minded people.

That said, energy runs even deeper, influencing our psyche — the human mind, body, and spirit — and can cause emotional distress and illness. Consulting an energy healing practitioner can help people overcome the invisible ropes tying them down in such cases.

If you’ve ever wondered how energy healing works or are looking to learn energy healing, then keep reading to find out more about this far too often overlooked form of therapy.

What is Energy Healing?

Energy healing is a form of alternative and complementary medicine rooted in the belief that illness is caused, at least in part, by energy imbalances within the body. Some people describe an energy imbalance as feeling “off”, unlike themselves, or like “something just isn’t quite right”.

Energy healing practitioners manipulate the flow of energy into their clients, addressing any inherent or acquired imbalances within the body. An energy healer helps their clients establish a mind-body connection, soothing any emotional turbulence and bringing balance to their client’s lives.

Every energy healing session will be unique depending on the practitioner and the needs of the client. The sessions are typically interactive, with the practitioner taking their time to get to know their client intimately. Once familiarity is established, the energy healing process can begin.

Practitioners will generally direct healing energies toward their clients through their hands and/or by projecting healing intentions. This transfer of positive energy purges the body of negative energy and its physical manifestations.

The Path to Becoming an Energy Healer

The field of energy healing is as broad as it is inclusive. Various forms of energy healing, with techniques and tools derived from various cultures the world over can be employed by an energy healing practitioner to help their client.

As such, energy healing courses can and do differ wildly. Your first step toward learning energy work should be getting familiar with the different energy healing techniques and tools. You may find that you naturally gravitate towards one form of energy healing over another, or that certain practices complement your existing profession or interests.

For example, Reiki and pranic healing are both types of energy healing grounded in spiritual beliefs and practices. However, because they are however often paired with traditional medicine, they may be more appropriate for naturopaths as opposed to other techniques such as crystal healing.

While attending energy healing sessions or connecting with experienced practitioners will help you gain key insight into the practice, it’s also important to engage in energy healing from an intellectual perspective. Making an effort to further your understanding of energy and its role in the universe will deepen your appreciation for energy healing work.

Finally, before you enroll in any energy healing programs, become mindful of your own energy, the energy you emit, and the energies you absorb as you move through the world. Paying close attention to your day-to-day interactions with people and how you influence and are influenced by their energy is a great way to kick-start your journey to self-healing and healing those around you.

Energy Healing Training

There are seemingly endless energy healer training courses out there and with the move toward an increasingly digital world, you can easily find energy healing training online as standalone offerings or train to be an energy healer as a complement to your shamanic practice.

Regardless of whether you choose to take your energy healing courses online or in person, it’s important to make sure that you receive the proper guidance on your path to becoming an energy healing practitioner.

That means doing your due diligence and making sure that your instructor is an expert and experienced in energy healing like those at Clinical Shaman. Of course, if you’re looking to actually practice energy healing, then be sure that your energetic healing courses place emphasis on the practical side of things.

While theoretical knowledge and a good understanding of the energy healing process are key, a good energy healing course should guide you in the proper use of energy channeling tools and healing techniques including therapeutic touch, massage, and breathing.

Energy healing isn’t just a way to self-heal and heal. It’s one of the best ways to connect with yourself, your loved ones, and your clients on a deeper, more meaningful level.

Whether you are pursuing energy healing training for personal or professional reasons, you’ll likely find that the balance that you create within yourself will have a positive impact on those around you.
